Living and working abroad, I use TransferWise to send money home for one simple reason – it works! Learn more about my story below.
Firstly, welcome to TransferGuides! Thanks for stopping by.
Who am I? I’m Kristopher, a young and energetic Australian, currently living in Cologne, Germany. I’ve been here for the past couple of years discovering all that Europe has to offer; the food, the culture, and of course, the snowboarding!
Living in Germany provides me with a fantastic opportunity to travel and experience a different way of life. However, it’s not all fun and games. During the week, I’m hard at work in my day job as a professional risk manager.
I live a relatively sensible life, balancing the costs of living and having a good time with saving for my future. For me, this means actively investing my money back in Australia; so sending money internationally has become a regular occurrence.
In the beginning, I found that getting money to Australia wasn’t exactly easy. Between shady cash transfer services and being overcharged by the big banks, I couldn’t really find anything I was truly comfortable with. That was until I found a growing upstart called TransferWise.
TransferWise is a new and unique way of sending money abroad. I like it because it is cheap, easy, and most importantly transparent. Before each transfer, I know exactly how much it will cost me, and only a few days later my hard earned cash is sitting safe and sound in my Australian accounts.
In fact, I like TransferWise so much I decided to create this website to share my experiences with others. TransferGuides aims to answer common questions and help people like you get the best deal on transferring money abroad, wherever you may live.
What’s next for me you might ask? Aside from my annual trip back to the sunny beaches Down Under, I’ll stick around Germany for a couple of years to continue to explore this interesting part of the world. After that, who knows?
